The event will start with an examination of the contents of a moth trap set in the grounds of the Youth Hostel overnight. This will be followed by a brief PowerPoint presentation on issues relating to moth identification and recording including:

• identification of some of the “difficult” species,
• collecting and field study techniques and equipment,
• reference books and websites

The rest of the workshop will be devoted to a structured but informal discussion covering:

• developing the new moth recording group
• obtaining as many verified records as possible for the Moths Count database by 30 April.
